From the perspective of solid-state lithium-ion batteries, upgrading the monomer chemical system is not all about the research of automotive batteries. If high nickel ternary is safe enough and the cost returns to the lowest point before the lithium price increase, car companies still have a lot of other battery system issues to study. Conversely, the more research and investment in those fields, the less willing they are to change, unless there is enough driving force. The current focus on solid-state lithium batteries is indeed not as high as it used to be. On the one hand, the cost pressure is increasing, and on the other hand, the demand for rapid distribution to seize the market is increasing, and even lithium iron phosphate under cost pressure has rebounded. In addition, there are already huge production lines for ternary and lithium iron phosphate that have been put into operation. The degree of improvement in the energy density of semi-solid state is not high, and car companies have already done a lot of work in the analysis and prediction of battery health big data based on high nickel ternary, SOC management, development and optimization of BMS, and self-development of modules, battery packs, and thermal management systems. Especially in recent years, a lot of work has been done in the prediction and analysis of battery cell health based on machine learning, The confidence level of car companies in managing high nickel ternary is increasing. No matter how well the semi solid state is promoted from the perspective of battery cells, it still requires a relatively long time for system matching and development with car companies. Moreover, some companies claim that the current low cost of semi solid state can only be achieved based on a considerable installed capacity. I think some companies have already planned to launch semi solid models this year, but there are still a few pilot models available. I personally tend to think that car companies in the semi-solid field are mostly trying water, starting with capability development projects, and then directly cutting to the full solid state. If they are not ready, they will continue the traditional high nickel ternary system. At present, in the field of automotive use, all battery types except for lithium batteries, or more definitely, lithium iron phosphate and ternary lithium batteries, will exist in the next 15 years as a means of compensating for the potential shortcomings of these two types of batteries in some unique and specific application scenarios. The premise for the existence of sodium ion batteries, which have been relatively popular during this period, is also the sustained high price of lithium ore. Other types such as lithium manganate, lithium titanate, lithium sulfur batteries, supercapacitors, and so on are basically the same, even including solid-state lithium batteries.
